I see a plot about people stuck in a time loop until they fall in love, I don't notice anything else. It's as simple as that.

Finished this on audiobook in 5H 29M! I didn't want to pause the story! As a sucker for time travel, magical realism and time loops, plus romcom, this is a definite 5 ⭐ for me!!

*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*

A refreshing and fun twist on the time loop trope, THE DEJA GLITCH is a perfect mix of Groundhog Day and 50 First Dates (shout out to fellow reviewer Nilufer Ozmekik for that perfect comparison). I loved that the story is from the point of view of the person who can't remember rather than the person that is stuck-- it was such a good twist on a classic idea. I also personally loved how imperfect Gemma was; she was frustrating and a little selfish, but it made her feel real and her reactions seem genuine.

GLITCH was a super quick and charming read, perfect for anyone looking to satisfy their rom-com needs!

I love a time loop romance, but this one didn’t work for me. It had an original premise with Gemma unaware of the time loop and only Jack living through it for 147 days so far. While starting the reader on the final day of the time loop with Gemma rather than with Jack prevented a lot of repetition, which can be a problem with time loop stories, but it also deprived the reader of the process of falling in love on one side and that was a detrimental obstacle to my enjoyment. With Jack at the end of the time loop already in love and Gemma only one eventful day to get there too, it reached too far for me to enjoy the romance. It was like a time loop romance sans romance and sans the time loop, which were the very things that made me pick up the book.

This was a great time loop story and I was so excited to dive into this one! The story started off so strong and I loved how it was never repetitive and flowed into the situation of Gemma and Jack being stuck in the same day for 147 days.

There was plenty of conflict for each character to overcome in order to break their time loop. Gemma deals with issues at work, her relationship with her father, an awful ex who used her for a record deal, and her overprotectiveness of her younger brother Patrick.

Jack, who has been aware of the time loop the entire time, realizes that he and Gemma are meant to be together and he’s been trying the entire time to get her to remember her. He thinks the key is for them to fall in love in order to break the loop. This sounds outrageous, but it’s been 5 months for him while to Gemma, she only meets him that morning in a coffee shop after a series of bizarre events happen to her.

For me, the conversational dialogue didn’t flow right in the story. Sentences were choppy in parts and at the end there’s an entire chapter of Gemma and Jack just stating what happened that day. It seemed unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the book for me. I also felt like there was so much being described in the book all around Gemma that she would be internally assessing that just filled the page but didn’t add anything to the story for me.

Lila was the best friend and side character and I found myself so attached to her. Many of the scenarios were funny and I think if this were to be made into a movie would showcase every part of Los Angeles. Which also leads me to note that having been to LA and lived in Southern California for a time, there’s no wayyyy Gemma got all over to all of her locations in one whole day

This was a cute rom-com with a twist on the time-loop trope between Jack and Gemma. I didn't get bored with the time-loop element because each time was new and added to the story. Jack was the best, and I grew to like Gemma—the insta-love element of this book worked for me. The character's backstories were well-developed and helped with their chemistry. I would recommend reading this book!

Thank you, Penguin Group Dutton, Holly James, and NetGalley, for this ARC.

This review may be ironic given the plot, but I felt like I got thrown into a situation right from the get go. Again, maybe that was the point — to make the reader really FEEL Gemma’s plight. I didn’t like it.
For those interested in a lot of spice, this isn’t the book for you.

I liked it enough to finish it, but not enough to read more.

The Deja Glitch Holly James

One day, Jack runs into Gemma and his whole world shifts. There is a loop that Gemma does not even realize is happening but Jack does. They have a day to figure out how to fix it.

This book pulled me in from the beginning with the concept. I was a little hesitant but absolutely loved it. Gemma and Jack are characters who we really care about. Jack was just a dreamboat. He is just trying to right his life and get Gemma there with him. Gemma's best friend, Lila, along with others adds to the fun of the book. I have never read Holly James before but it seems like her books are concepts that make you think and keep you on your toes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you are looking for a fun closed door romance with a twist, this is a book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin, and Holly James for the e-ARC. This review is my own opinion.

I received an ARC copy of this from NetGalley in return for an honest review

I am not the biggest fan of the “time-loop trope”. This book took place over the course of a single day & i found it to b very predictable. It was an okay story, but not my favorite. I have read better time-loop stories, but this one was average. I would recommend it if you’re a fan of this trope, but personally - it wasn’t for me.

*thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton and netgalley for the ARC!*

i can never resist a story with any sort of time loop or time jump (the time traveler's wife, anybody?! one of my go to stories for a solid cry!), so i knew i had to request this one as soon as i saw it. it definitely didn't disappoint. like some other reviewers mentioned, i would've loved to see another loop or two after gemma understood what was happening, but the fullness of time we did see also felt really good. i'll be recommending this one!
