First read in 2015: 5 stars
Second read in 2021: Still 5 stars

I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did! Phillip is such an intriguing male lead since in many aspects he’s refined and health-conscious with expensive tastes. Seeing the different sides of his personality was really interesting. And I thought Sybill was a great match for him. I liked how her character evolved as the story progressed. She didn’t change completely- that polished, professional exterior remained the same, but she softened in a really great way. I enjoyed the humor that came up throughout this one- it felt lighter at times than I expected, and certainly lighter than the second book. I thought that was a positive thing, and helped to solidify this family as a loving, close-knit group. I enjoyed re-reading the first 3 books in the series and plan to read the 4th book again soon!

This is the third book of the Chesapeake Bay series and this is definitely a book you can't read as a standalone.

In this book, we're focused on Phillip as he meets Sybill, a travelling author who has a vested interest in Seth's wellbeing and the mystery of who Seth really is progresses nicely. One of the main plot points in this book is a big spoiler, one that I enjoyed coming across on my own so I'm going to be careful not to mention it in this review.

As with the other books in this series, I felt like the romance wasn't the strong point here but I adored the plot and the heroine in this book. Sybill has a lot of issues to go through
two of them being her love for Seth and her conflict over Gloria
but she works through them in a great character arc in the book. I also love how Cam, after not trusting her most of the book, sticks up for her when Phillip missteps. Phillip wasn't my favourite hero of this series, that goes to Ethan, but how much I loved the heroine more than makes up for it.

Definitely a 4 star book.

The four books in this series are fantastically done, I love the strength and love between all the brothers and how they deal with their problems. I've read this series countless times and keep going back to it.

Sybil really was someone that I had a hard time connecting with until we find out what her connection to Seth is. I found that the emotion buried inside of her flowed out into the story. I also feel that Phillip was very forgiving when most wouldn't be. Many would've dismissed her actions and never looked back. Instead, he had compassion for her upbringing and showed empathy. He understood her because he related to her. They made the perfect pair and it was endearing to see him struggle to fall. Finding a woman as perfect as your mother just made my heart squeeze. He wanted someone who could fill those qualities and it was sweet that he had that yearning. This series coming to an end with Seth (as a boy) feeling safe, made my heart full.

Plus entraînant que le T2, mais moins émouvant que le premier. Cela reste une jolie histoire d'amour et de famille, pleine de douceur et de tendresse, le genre de lecture apaisante dont j'avais besoin.
