Another great chapter in a fantastic series. Layman and Guillory are able to weave so many scenes together that you might have thought meant nothing and now readers see how important they are. This volume deals with family and loss. Its heartbreaking at times. On the other side we get to see Savoy's plan play out. Overall, just a fun read that screams to be re-read.
Man, Chew is really on fire and after a good story last time round, Layman really ups his game with a bonkers yet remarkably touching story arc where Tony gets to spend a little more time with Toni before she leaves his life completely.
There are crazy moments of genius (the attack on the pillow factory is a highlight), the humour is cranked to 10, the recurring Poyo splash page is even better than the one in volume 7, and it's emotionally complex. I have to say I really feel for Tony now and I'm extremely excited to see where the guys are going to take us as the series starts to wrap up.
Again, full praise of Guillory for his artwork. I cannot fault him.
This is the book to be reading.

Enter the world of Tony Chu, a federal agent who can get psychic impressions from the things he eats. And since he works for the FDA in a world where chicken is outlawed after a global poultry apocalypse, he often ends up eating the remains of bad guys and smugglers to get his leads. This bok starts from bizarre, goes to bonkers, then throttles up to batshit by about the second volume, and then just floors it from there. It's weird and wonderful, operating fully on its own crazy wavelength that involves more psychic eating powers, cyborgs, vampires, alien fruit, a psychic rooster, massive conspiracies, alien visitation, and more. It's all done in a relentlessly smart-aleck fashion that even when it's careening over the top, you don't mind, because the ride is so much fun.

These volumes are slowly devolving into batshit crazy but they're still entertaining and I am still driven to see what the crap happens.
Maybe a bit less than four stars. I really liked the first half as the flashbacks were really well made and didn“t felt overly complicated. I also absolutely adore Toni.
