I didn't get into this one as much, mostly because the characters were a bit less likable, I guess, than in her other books.

When Nell applies for a job at the detective agency, she is feeling a bit depressed and the sting from her divorce. She helped to build the business with her ex and he reaped all the profits. The last thing Nell needed was to get involved in a death that happened two decades ago, or her boss. Thank goodness she has her two best friends to rely on, even though when they three of them are together, things have a way of happening!
funny mysterious medium-paced

DID NOT FINISH.

It was intriguing but it really was long for a romance novel and I couldn’t stay interested.

A re-read of an old favorite. Jennifer Crusie will always remain as one of my all-time favorite authors. There's not a book by her I haven't loved, though Faking It, Bet Me, The Cinderella Deal, and Fast Women will always be at the top of list.

Fairly positive this book is the reason I became obsessed with private detectives.

Really sick. So I will have to drop this with reluctance.

The book is fine. Just that I gotten really ill. And I have a paper copy so I didn't want to risk damage to it.

I've read this book a few times so I already knew I loved it but it's been a few years since I last read it so it was nice to revisit after so long. This book is just fantastic, I love that Gabe and Riley run a detective agency and that Nell stumbles in and is nothing like they expect.

I think I love this book because I am a little in love with grumpy Gabe who is adverse to change and gets Nell who changes everything and forges right on ahead trying to do things her way as she thinks it's right. The two together are just great with sparks flying and a great time had by all.

It's a case of me remembering what makes Crusie's books so fun. She writes great characters and there is always smart banter to be had which makes you smile. There is normally always a headstrong woman to be seen and there is always a pet and some enjoyment of food. All of these things add up to me enjoying myself. I can't think of a single Crusie book I haven't liked in someway and this one is no different.

This book made me laugh in some spots, the narration was good and I liked some of the characters. However I found some of the lead women annoying. And wtf is up with the china and the meaning of it in this book?

With some snappy dialogue, an overload of secondary characters and a kidnapped dog, [b:Fast Women|33728|Fast Women|Jennifer Crusie|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1311999744l/33728._SY75_.jpg|1616065] was downtown quirky.

As is typical in Crusie’s romances, the heroine, Nell, drove the hero, Gabe, crazy. Their sexual tension was a plus. I found myself caught up with their families, friends and work which were often intertwined. It was an extremely busy plot with some light suspense.

Even better, if read between heavier stories. Gabe and Nell’s relationship was just this side of sizzling. Yum!

Thank you, Mela, for recommending this romance.
