The way this was written was sort of stream of consciousness, jumping.from topic to topic. The ending left me feeling unsatisfied and a lot of questions went unanswered.

Courageously funny and incredibly heartbreaking. Some characters make you feel like you're looking in the mirror amd Gilda is one of them. The feelings she was feeling validated so many of my own, her journey through life reflects my own and I'm grateful for coming across such a book.

I wonder if my death will be what defines me.
Finally, a book that convincingly tackled one's sexual orientation and mental health problems. A novel that doesn't mix and match various conflicts and struggles "for the plot", then give it vague endings—or none at all, leaving everything to the readers, sending the audience to a rabbit hole.
Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead is a gripping narrative about sexuality, relationship with religion (or lack thereof), fascination of death, and issues surrounding the health care system.
Emily Austin effectively articulated the feelings of a person dealing with anxiety—she had exquisitely put to words what anxiety is. Austin's experience with anxiety disorder and struggles with depression contributed a huge part on the storyline (but this is not to say that one must go through a major health problem in order to convincingly tell or write an account of it), in a conversation, she disclosed that there are some thoughts in the novel that is both from her and Gilda. Most of the events in the novel having taken place in the Catholic church also hint a significant detail about Austin's character: she grew up Catholic. On relating anxiety, sexuality, and religion—particularly Catholicism—Austin said: "I think thematically Catholicism is aligned with a person who is morbidly anxious; a lot of Catholic language and imagery is about death, bodies, and blood. I also think, for some people, religion can help soothe morbid anxieties." She explained further that: "Queer people can be Catholic, but regardless of your faith or beliefs, I think it is fair to say that if you are driven to Catholicism to soothe your morbid anxieties, a straight person is more likely to feel comforted than a queer person is."
Overall, Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead is an exemplary fiction that opens both the readers' eyes and mind about suffering in anxiety, and about coming terms with sex and religion. It also serves as a great call for giving light on the concerns within the health care system.

Gilda has intense anxiety and is terrified of dying. We are in her head the whole time, so prepare yourself. I would throw this in a “dark comedy” category because her head is an unpleasant place to be, but there are genuinely funny laugh out loud moments.
