This was a quick, entertaining read. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! It was just what I needed- something light and fun and silly. Perfect. Loved the writing style.
This book started off with so much potential but then took a dive into cliches.
While there were some funny parts, overall, I think it seemed like the author was trying too hard. It was like you could hear the author through the narrator trying to make the book original and different. It seemed more like a collection of short stories than a novel and sometimes I found myself wondering how it all fit together. There is a quote about being late that sums up exactly how I feel about the topic: "You don't want to be late...it tells the people you care about that they can't count on you."
This is a fun read! Jane Rosenal walks us through the perilous journey of love and loss but with a wicked sense of humour that makes it a joy instead onsome crappy chick lit. A perfect rainy day, sunny day, any day read.
Quirky and quick read. I would have said 5 at the beginning, but the way that the story started jumping around and the last stories kind of lost that wow factor. Over all, I enjoyed it!
I like the character development, but had a hard time with the disconnectedness between some of the stories. Since most of them seemed to be related, I found it difficult to process the others.
After finishing it, my first thought was just "Eh?" That's literally all I had to say about it. I found myself having trouble relating to the characters and the stories were really hard to follow. I'm also not sure what Bank was trying to say about the nature of relationships or female and male roles or whatever she was trying to go for. It just fell flat for me. Not a terrible book by any means just mediocre. The great reviews made me expect a masterpiece but instead I just got a fairly average piece of "chick-lit".
It felt like every other chapter was a different writing style and the way the author threw in two random stories when this was clearly meant to follow Janes life... made me never want to read this again. Started off interesting and by the end I couldn’t wait to be done.
I enjoyed the way this book was written. It was a book of short stories but it still gave a linear picture of the main character's life. Within the short stories, the author also used even shorter little scenes to quickly develop the plot which I enjoyed.
