To sum this is a journey of a girl throughout life and her experiences with relationships from different stages of her life (in chapters only). It was a refreshing read because she followed her instinct and heart to leave the previous men. And ends up with one who loves her for WHO she is, no change required.

Did not finish. Lost me when the narrator changes for one chapter. Other parts were de good too, just couldn’t get back in the swing of it. I’m normally a fan of narrative shifting, but it made no sense.

I was intrigued by this book, and was looking forwards to start it. However it proved itself to be hard to read, not because of the complexity but because of its lack of intrigue. I couldn't follow the main character, and am still not sure who she was. One of the good points of this novel however is the unique writing style that changes from chapter to chapter, thus changing with the age of Jane.

Felice di aver scoperto questa antologia.

I liked the format of this book. Each chapter was a different time in her life - chronologically. One chapter was written about a neighbor of the main character, and it really had nothing to do with the book, but I was still intrigued. It's minus a star because the subject matter was hard to follow.

I hope she's still in therapy, but she's on the right track. Here are quotes I liked:

"I believe the common term 'lifeguard' signifies his desire to copulate, i.e., to guard the perpetuation of the species."

"I couldn't help staring, either - it was like she was a different species from me. She had the lollipop proportions of a model - big head, stick figure - pale skin, wintergreen eyes, and a nose barely bid enough to break out of."

"You can feel that he wants to own you - not like an object but like a good dream he wants to keep having. He lets you know that you already own him."

"I say that getting married isn't like winning the Miss America Pageant; it doesn't all come down to the bathing suit competition.
'What do you think it comes down to?' she says.
I say, 'Baton twirling."
