This started out a bit slow but it did pick up and I wanted everyone to leave me alone so I could keep reading.
This feels very similar in style to her other books. Quirky characters (and a lot of them), with very specific personalities. It was a different perspective on adoption that I hadn’t considered before.
I won this in a goodreads giveaway.

I liked this one. The pacing worked for me as well as the plot twists spooling out without feeling tooooo over the top.

I really really enjoyed this. It was funny and entertaining and heartfelt. Extensive discussion of adoption and abortion.

This was the perfect book to read over Spring Break! India Allwood finds herself in an unfortunate controversy after making some incendiary comments about a film she starred in, opening a whole can of worms about her own personal life. This is a book best not too spoiled, but adoption features very prominently in the story, as Laurie Frankel examines what makes a family family. Most of the characters are not to be forgotten, from India's lawyer mom, to her own kids, Fig and Jack, slightly precocious kids navigating their own lives. Hands down, this book had me laughing thoroughout, evidenced by the insane amount of highlighting of favorite parts I did. It's not just funny, but real, and poignant. Spending time with the Allwoods is certainly a wonderful experience.
The premise was interesting and Frankel is a good writer but the story seemed too long and slightly preachy. Although I finished the book, it did not hold my interest.
excellent, laughed out loud. I want to read other books by author. Some parts of adoption story a little unreal, but good food for thought

3.5 rounded up. It kept my interest, but was lacking something for me. Maybe the writing or the characters, not sure. It was just okay.
