I love love LOVED this book! this gave a great perspective into the world of adoption and challenging the views that typically (stereotypically) box people into. I, of course, appreciated the feminist approach and opinions. the writing was stellar - the characters personalities shone bright and I felt I was part of the adventure.

Really enjoyed the portrayal of all various facets of the adoption triad (and I am an adoptive mom). Also loved the humor sprinkled throughout, that did nothing to take away from the deeper threads of the story.
This was a beautiful story about family, adoption, coming of age, and soooo much more. The author has a personal connection to adoption and captures the views of adoptive parents, biological parents, and children very well.

It’s a book about adoption, birth families, adoptive families, and how they meet together.
India always knew she wanted to be an actor. Her new movie is about adoption… and it’s bad. An adoptive mom herself, India wants to show that it’s not always a tragic story. When she tells the truth about the movie to a journalist, a media storm ensues. Her twin ten-year-olds try to help and things get even messier.
I can appreciate the message of FAMILY FAMILY -- that there are all types of adoptive families and not all adoption stories are tragic -- however, I didn’t love the vehicle by which this message was delivered. I had trouble holding interest in the plot and found the characters to feel unrealistic. The children often spoke and acted in ways that didn’t fit with their stated age. Overall, this one fell flat for me, though I can see it doing well with a different audience.
What makes a family, a complicated question when there are so many varieties. India wants to be an actress, determined to make a good college in New York to be near Broadway. When her plans seem derailed by an unplanned pregnancy, India approaches the pregnancy as an opportunity to help someone else. As the book proceeds through her college years, and after as an actress, India has more iterations of family and children which seem to be untraditional. As the media haunts her choices, India tries to protect her children while learning to redefine her family. Highly recommend this book that is at times quirky, at times heartwarming, and even troubling. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.
