As always, I enjoyed Frankel's writing and characters. The ending was a little too wrapped up for my taste and while I appreciate what she was trying to do, it felt oversimplified.

Sadly, this was a hate read for me. The glib way that the central character treated unplanned pregnancies was offensive. The Dobbs decision discussed the need for a supply of babies, and this novel seems to support that argument.

Family Family is a story of choices and their challenges. India Allwood has always wanted to be a star. She finally has become one. But when she speaks out against her new movie about adoption, things get very complicated. She is at the center of both sides of the adoption issue. India is no stranger to adoption, but the studio executives only see that she is sabotaging their movie with her views. Will India be able to overcome all this negative attention?
What I like most about this story is that it is not the usual adoption trope. Ms Frankel says it best when she writes, "Not all stories of adoption are stories of pain and regret. Not even most of them. Why don't we ever get that movie." Her story is definitely not one of pain and regret. Instead it is about found family and love.

First of all, this is an entertaining book about likeable people. But it also makes for a good book club discussion.

2.5 I wanted to like it. I like the authors other books. I agree with the message wholeheartedly about adoption and loved the expression of positivity around it! I liked the general message about families. But it was slow, preachy and boring and I thought I would never finish it. One other reviewer said exactly what I thought: the story was unrealistic, the characters were unbelievable and unrelatable, but the positive message about adoption was wonderful.
