This was so fun! Having a chubby lead that is the child of a superhero is a fun twist. I really liked the art and how the Titans acted the same as from the show. Mandy is funny and rough around the edges and really comes into her own. And of course, I love the queer content.

I enjoy both the author's writing and the artist's work, so I was very excited to read this graphic novel! It was very fun, I enjoyed seeing Starfire's sexy celebrity status being referenced (in the 70's and 80's comics, she was a high fashion and swimsuit model, something that sort of disappeared later). The story is solid, the characters have good development and well-defined arcs. Angsty teen Mandy is angsty, but what teen girl ISN'T? (Plus, she gets over herself, that is, if you bother to actually READ the book.) There is a great sub-text about growing up with foreign (and/or alien) parents as well.
Do not listen to the nay-sayers who are already review-bombing this book; it isn't aimed at their demographic and they are Big Mad about it. (Starfire and her sister Blackfire are both still drawn sexy and in scanty outfits- so what's the problem...? God forbid that there be a teen comic character who is the average American woman's weight- size 16 is the average woman's size in the US- for younger readers to see and identify with.)

Me. Like ever since I was a kid. It was cute, and I really enjoyed reading it. It was about self discovery and learning how to accept yourself for who you truly are. It was really good, and I really liked it. Now I should watch teen titans. Like the original one. Because why not?
