Haters gonna hate - I thought this graphic novel was really lovely, actually, and enjoyed reading it a lot.
Mandy is the daughter of super-hero alien Starfire, but she is nothing like her. She used to try to be like Starfire, but she never developed powers, so she stopped trying. Mandy's classmates either think she is weird or want her to tell them all about Starfire. Mandy refuses to do what is expected of her like going to college or even taking the SATs. Mother and daughter must find common ground in order to defeat an old enemy. I wasn't in love with this story. I feel like it could have been done better somehow.

Cette BD, et les autrices, ne mérite pas les critique qu'elle a reçu. C'est une très belle histoire, les personnages sont vraiment bien écrits, et j'ai passé un très bon moment de lecture.
What a great story for young adults about finding your own way out of the shadows of a larger than life parent. It's a struggle many teens face and Mariko Tamaki does a good job of taking us through the journey. I love the spare, yet intense artwork by Yoshi Yoshitani. Well done, DC!
this is cute!!!! I love the writing and the design for this stand alone AU! Who knows, maybe DC will use this for the future....I hope so because this cast of characters is great I would love to see more of them

I like the art, and the story is entertaining. The teen years are tough for everyone, and being a superhero's kid definitely adds to the challenge. Made me chuckle, and go 'aww' a couple of times... and snicker at some cheeky poses.
YA librarian chiming in, Tamaki and Yoshitani's work is the sort of thing (some!) teens are into and the story works fine as its own thing. Fans of Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass and Zatanna and the House of Secrets should be all over this.
It’s hard being the daughter of Starfire, especially when you don’t have powers and you feel like the antithesis of everything she is. It’s especially hard as a teenager trying to figure out what you want to do after HS, and trying to navigate crushes and school projects. But when someone from Starfire’s past has come to Earth threatening everything she holds dear, Mandy will find she’s more than she thinks she is.
This was a fun little YA coming-of-age super hero story. And it was nice seeing a comic book protagonist who isn’t skinny. But overall, it’s just OK.

I loved Teen Titans growing up, so this felt like a non canon sequel for a new age.
