This series just keeps getting better. Nick and Charlie are navigating their relationship and how to come out to others as they share more time together and want to enjoy things as a couple. They also are continuing to learn more about each other; Nick’s rocky relationship with his older brother and wanting to tell his French father about his boyfriend. Charlie also opens up about old self harm habits he gained when the bullying and harassment got overbearing last year when everyone at school found out he’s gay and Charlie is worried being to open will out a target on Nick. Meanwhile, Nick is concerned about Charlie’s lack of eating. Meanwhile, the boys attend a school trip to Paris, France with their classmates and friends and Tao and Elle start to also explore their feelings for each other while Darcy and Tara celebrate Tara’s birthday.

Honestly, I absolutely loved how well Alice Oseman covered some of the serous topics of self harm, coming out, and eating disorders in this third installment of the series and really stressed the need to communicate with friends or partners about these issues to help treat them. I cannot wait to see how Netflix puts this in the live action show next. ❤️

These two are really trying with each other, and it is lovely. As a mom, this one was more difficult for me to read, but it gets the things right. The focus on understanding and support instead of even concern (there was concern but it wasn’t weighted) was exceptional. There were a few places in this story where people stood up and said they weren’t responsible for other people’s feelings about them. If you can know this, you can support someone better, without your worry taking over.
