Richard Hannay has just returned to London and is bored with life. Before he knows it, an interaction with an man named Scudder propels him into the middle of an assassination plot. His life is jeopardized as he finds himself smack dab in the middle of political intrigue. Running around England and escaping the police and the Germans at the same time. All quite silly and alot of coincidences to move the plot along. Nice little read though

This is an entertaining book, let down by a couple of things:
1) There is s staggering amount of coincidence, the silliest being the explosives in the cupboard.
2) The ending is far too swift and dealt with rather too neatly. Given that the protagonists must recognise him even if he is not sure that they are the right people, you wonder why they play bridge with him rather than bump him off?
Good fun in places.
