Enjoyable murder mystery set on a space cruise ship. I don't know why other reviewers have characterized this book as fun beach-read fluff, when so much page space is given to graphic description of chronic pain. I appreciated that aspect, actually. Nice to have a depiction of a protagonist with a disability that severely impacts her day to day life, and yet doesn't prevent her from investigating a mystery (much to her attorney's dismay, lol).

Also has the following:
  • Adorable doggo, seriously
  • Nonbinary representation
  • same sex relationship representation (minor characters)
  • cocktail recipes, alcoholic and not, at the start of chapters

I loved this! It's a whodunnit but IN SPACE! It's like if space and an old detective noir had a baby. I also loved the gender representation (everybody was Mx, pronouns are a normal part of introducing yourself, gendered talk is akin to an insult etc)

This was really enjoyable.  I liked both the mystery and the science fiction.  The plotting was excellent and the characters were well drawn and the ones who needed to be were very likable.  My only complaint is that it did get a bit repetitive with Tesla trying to use snootiness and her adorable support dog to deal with almost everyone.  Even after the first couple of times she was called out for overdoing it by her husband, she kept it going.  It's less that these weren't valid tools that we might expect her to use than that she seemed like a more creative and dynamic character than that.  Beyond that, though, the mystery kept me guessing even after I'd more or less figured it out and the cruise ship was pretty awesome.  I'd love to travel on a ship with separate sections that each had either Earth, lunar, or martian gravity.

DID NOT FINISH: 17%

This book annoyed me more than anything else so I stopped. The characters weren’t interesting and when only the canine one is the one you like the most, it’s time to stop.

The characters were super attaching, but the plot was a bit confused with very convenient moments, and really too many mentions of alcohol and sexy times at the most inappropriate moments.

The cover of the book intrigued me, which is why I picked it up. Tesla, the famous and stupendously wealthy heiress and robotics genius with PTSD and spine injuries is on her honeymoon with her retired famous detective extraordinaire spouse. Along with her adorable service dog Gimlet, they become embroiled in a murder case when they are accused of stabbing a fellow passenger.

It's a fun little murder mystery on a futuristic luxury space cruise from the moon to mars. The sci-fi is pretty light. The action is relaxed and the blood not at all gory. It's like a high society dinner party while playing a murder mystery game with as much dialogue as that would entail. It's fun, but I don't have much else to say about it.
