I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did.
The concept of this book seemed like it was going to inevitably become boring, especially with baseball (I'm not a sports fan in any way, and I know next to nothing about baseball) being a big part of the story. However, I was hooked for the majority of the story.
In the beginning I wasn't sure, I probably would've given it a 3.5 if I stopped after the first 50-ish pages, but when the book go going it was the definition of a page-turner, I had to know what happened next. I needed to know how Trisha was going to get out, if she was going to get out, what was stalking her, if it was even real, how she was going to get out of certain situations, etc.
I'm quickly realising that King is an amazing author when it comes to describing what a person is going through, not only physically but mentally. You feel everything that Trisha feels and it can be brutal at times.
One of the main reasons I gave this 5 stars, besides genuinely enjoying it, was because Stephen King really wrote a book about a 9 year old girl lost in the woods and made it interesting, enjoyable and horrifying at times (that monster, whatever it was, was so creepy).
I get why not many people talk about this one, but it should be on ever King fans radar, although it's small it packs a punch. I even got a little misty-eyed at the end, just from the sheer relief that it was over for Trisha.
As for any minor complaints, I'd say there were little places where it did drag, but that's to be expected from most books, they can't all be go, go, go all the way. Besides that, I have no real complaints. It didn't overstay its welcome and it had a good ending, so I'd be happy to recommend it to anyone.
