AUDIOBOOK: I don’t know why I kept passing on this book when it would pop up in my suggestions. I really enjoyed it. It’s not horror in the sense of a classic SK novel, but instead the horror comes from the idea of being lost in the woods surrounded by who knows what. Fantastic 9 year old protagonist. Enjoyable and engaging read. Highly recommend.

There's something about this book that made it a really unique read for me, I think it was how it was completely written in the point of view of a child experiencing a horrific trek through the woods while being lost and unsure that she would survive all while in the company of her hero/baseball player, Tom Gordon. That's probably it. It was easy to forget that at times this this is a thriller and not a survival guide for wayward kids. Armed with her lunch for the day and a Walkman, 9 year old Trisha finds herself lost and the only thing that keeps her going is the constant encouragement of her imagination, presented in the form of Tom Gordan. I enjoyed every bit of this book and found it to be a quick read. Some of Stephen King's books can be polarizing with other reviewers. This one isn't the best, but well deserving of my 4 stars.
