Many good suggestions and relayed in the manner of a chat with a good and trusted friend. Best suited for younger women still raising families, but something for all women in this book.
I loved her first book but this one fell way short of that one. I think it focused way too much on Rachel's job and following and her accomplishments. I was happy to finish it so I could go on to another book.
Empower yourself, you are great and can do great things. Hollis packs this books with loads of tips and reasons why we all should and can believe this. I didn’t know Hollis outside of seeing Girl Wash Your Face all over goodreads (perhaps I’ve been under the wrong motivational rock), but will definitely give that a read for further empowerment inspiration and motivation.

And so my journey with non-fiction audiobooks begins....
༶•┈┈⛧┈♛ 3.5 stars ♛┈⛧┈┈•༶
When I first went into this book, I only knew three things about it:
1. It's a non-fiction book.
2. It's written by Rachel Hollins (which at that time I never knew who she was)
3. It winned the Goodreads Choice Awards at the Nonfiction category in 2019.
That's it. That's all I knew about this book, going into it. And, of course, the title. But I didn't know what the subject of the book would be. So I was a little surprised with how empowering the book was. I can't say that it drastically changed my life (though it might in the long term) but it's really an eye-opening book. It opened my eyes about many things that I didn't quite take into consideration before.
Two majors ones being.....
1. Your time is your own.
So I am the kind of person who complains about time. Especially the fact that there seems not to be time for anything. But, as stupid as it sounds and I know it's really stupid, I never actually took into consideration the idea of making time. Less even the idea of making time in the morning or taking the ”comfort time” (the time that i take to watch a movie or take a really long bath or staying forever in the bathroom to get ready) and transform it into ”achieving your goal” time. When Rachel first mentions that, I was just struck for some reason.
2. The best version of yourself.
Another thing that really struck me in this book is that...at some point... and some people might consider this a spoiler so I will censor it....
Spoiler
Rachel asks you to take an exercise to just think about the best version of yourself and it gives you ten years to reach that version.Spoiler
basically, you have the best version of yourself and you have ten years to reach it and, then, you need to think about ten goals for that ten years to reach that best version. One goal per year. Then, of course, you can break that one goal into small manageable little goals. For instance, if you imagine the best version of yourself having this perfect body, then one of the goals for one of the years has to be to lose weight. Or gain muscle. Or gain weight. Depends on each person. And you break this goal into ”eating more healthy” or ”having more workouts” or anything you need. For someone who is much more inclined towards fantasy, young-adult, FICTION books, this book was really good and eye-opening and just the push – pep-talk I needed.
I also listened to it, instead of physically reading, and if you ask me, that is the best version of reading this book because you hear the words and the tone and is litterally like she talks to you. Like she gives you a truly, powerful pep-talk.
I'll definitely try more non-fiction audiobooks from now on and I'm so pumped up for Girl, Wash Your Face!
Happy Reading, Everyone!
Rachel Hollis is my new favorite motivational writers. Move over Brene Brown, Mrs. Hollis is coming for you.
I liked this book much better than her first book, 'Girl, Wash Your Face.' I definitely wouldn't categorize this as a 'Christian' book, so it's much more enjoyable to approach it without that expectation. This book has much more practical advice than her first book; I felt that it offered me concrete steps to act on the motivation that the book made me feel.
***HIGHLY recommend the audiobook!!

I don’t think I like self help books or motivational ones for that matter. Would recommend for my high school girls.
This book to me is the how I did it cliff-notes version of Girl Wash YourFace. The humor lacked depth and the stories reminded me of a finance book. But the gratitude meditation at the end 👏🏻so👏🏻worth👏🏻it
