A good introduction into the history of Palestine, as well as its future. For something from the 2010s it's frighteningly relevant and all the predictions made in it ring true with the current genocide. I thought the insight into activism in the west and considerations to be made in regard to action that actively benefits Palestinians insightful. Ilan Pappé's perspective as an Israeli historian and someone who grew up in Israel and is familiar with the culture was also very interesting.

A real classic for anyone who wants to read about the Israel-Palestine conflict. The two viewpoints of Ilan Pappé and Noam Chomsky are slightly different, which enriches the discussion I think, but their immense knowledge and great respect for each other makes it quite pleasant to read these two champions talk about the topic. At some points I feel like Chomsky is debating about semantics a little bit, which seems a little unnecessary. I would have wished he talked and criticized a bit more of the concept of the "states" and it being the only solution, that people can think of ("two-state-" or "one-state-solution"). He, as an anarchist, would have been perfect for that, but he seemed to want to put more emphasis on being "pragmatic" and realising, what the possibilities on the ground are. I don't disagree, maybe there is no room for deeper analysis in such a short book, that is really just interviews and some short essays anyway.

A great read for annoying wanting to learn about the complexity of the Israel Palestine relationship. The fact that it's done as conversation and essay keeps it from feeling dry.
