I’m confused as to why this book was shorter than the rest of the series, as there was definitely room for more in between. It was a great finish and had very interesting ideas, but I feel like often the follow-through fell short due to there not having been enough exploration of the stakes, and as a result the the pay off wasn’t as satisfying as it could have been. A lot of things just seemed almost too easy. Throughout it, I kind of felt like I was reading a story that someone had gotten bored of writing and was rushing to the end, which is a shame because of how well balanced the first two books were.

The character progression of Jude was great to read, though, and Holly Black writes family dynamics and their complexity so well that I’d honestly read an entire series about Madoc managing fatherhood in the mortal world. The relationship is another thing that seemed to jump over it’s complications for a quick and easy conclusion, but Jude and Cardan’s scenes were still an enjoyable to read. Overall, an entertaining series and I’m sad to say goodbye to the world of fae that Black has written.

I hate to be such a negative Nelly, but I absolutely hated this book for the most part. For the record, I did really enjoy the prologue of the book, though. The Queen of Nothing once again left me wondering why people seem to love the Folk of the Air series so much. I liked both The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King, but I've always felt like they were both incredibly overrated and problematic books; and I truly hated this book. Personally, I find Jude and almost all of the other characters in the series, with the exception of Oak, unlikable and poorly written. Jude is honestly one of the most frustrating protagonists that I've ever encountered in a book. The Queen of Nothing suffers from a variety of problems; such as bad or lack of character development, plot development and plot resolution, pacing, etc. Honestly, reading this book really left me wondering why I actually chose to read the entire Folk of the Air series; especially considering the fact that I've never loved this series like everybody else who reads the series seems to. Honestly, the only reason why I didn't DNF The Queen of Nothing is because it's the last book in the Folk of the Air series. (Sighs loudly) Okay, rant over.

My rating / score: 1 out of 5 Stars on the Goodreads rating system (But only because Goodreads STILL doesn't give people the option to give half star ratings. If I could, I would definitely give this book 1/2 out of 5 Stars on the Goodreads rating system) ; 1 out of 10 on my own personal scoring system.
