I loved this book so much! It was the book that "got me into reading" (not counting Junie B. Jones when I was younger). It wasn't to romance heavy and the sister relationship in this book was EVERYTHING! I went through the six stages of grief whilst reading. I cried, laughed, screamed, and totally kicked my legs like a little girl when I read it. In all, a beautiful and perfect book!!!

evadne and damon walked so that iris and roman could run ✌🏼

this was not an easy read. maybe because i was expecting something similar to divine rivals, maybe because the writing style is not one i'm really accostumed to. that being said, i almost gave up on this book– i usually dnf a story if i can't wrap it up in three days. but then i picked it up again, and today i finally finished it. it's not as good as divine rivals, but this is the third book written by this amazing author, and seeing how much her writing has grown over the years amazes me.

this is a soft, tender and magical tale. it's about love and loss, it's about family, it's about two sisters that have a bond stronger than any magic they know. after finishing it, i truly appreciate it.

“And she began to see the gift she held, this ability to write in beautiful strokes, to write as much as she wanted. There was power within it, a small seed. But how could it grow, should she allow it to.”

”Why am I even writing this down? Perhaps, though, to write it down is to find release. To find some catharsis. And so I press this memory to papyrus and hope it will soon become iron, something to sharpen me.”

Amazing book! Best one I’ve read so far this year. I’ve noticed a lot of books coming out that pit sister against sister and I was very happy to find out that this book features sisters who fight for each other and not against each other. This one has great character development, action, and intrigue as well as a beautiful slow burn romance that is just fantastically crafted. It features a boy who is exceedingly kind and gentle (and not to get something or manipulate he main character in any way- he’s just a good guy!) which is refreshing to see. It also features a main female character who is not a fighter in the sense of swords and battles but she is NOT weak in any way. She is as strong as her fighter sister (who is emotional and honourable and a badass solider at the same time!). Wow. Just wow!

Sisters of Sword and Song takes the one bed trope a step further with there being only one bedroll and it’s cold. However, this is a young adult fantasy, so it was a very sweet and endearing romance. It is also inspired by Ancient Greece, which is nice change of pace from the usual YA fantasy books I read.
