"But Elizabeth and I are accustomed to loss, we are Plantagenets—we dine on a diet of betrayal and heartbreak."
--Philippa Gregory
The King's Curse is another installment of Philippa Gregory's Tudor Chronicles. This is the last novel in the Cousin's War, but not near the end of the road for some of these characters.
In this novel we get to know Margaret Plantagent on a deeper level. She has served King Henry VII, his son Arthur, and now will serve King Henry VIII and his daughter Princess Mary. Her life is explored in depth until her death in her old age. Margaret goes through many ups and downs in her life. When things are good for her, they are amazing, and when things are bad... they are awful.
The King's Curse was a very slow read for me. I was prepared for it to take a while before I even started. I knew very little about Margaret so it was exciting to learn what role she played in Henry VIIIth's life. Margaret was so close to the throne, which unfortunately ment that she and her family were a threat. As always, I really enjoy these Tudor novels and can't wait to see what comes next.

I enjoyed this book. I have always been fascinated by Henry VIII and I thought it was an interesting way to tell part of his story---by someone not directly involved but close enough. Margaret Pole is an interesting character in a lot of ways and I liked that she was the story teller. My only complaint of the book was how long it was. Of course it was spanning like 30 years, but there were ways it could have been edited to shorten it a little bit.

A real eye opener about the cruelty from Henry VIII during his reign. It covers a long history in great depth. Sometimes a tad repetitive but regardless an interesting read. It fits nicely with ‘Three sisters, three Queens’.
