Mixed bag on this one. There were quite a few cute and emotional things in this story, but there were some really unbelievable, annoying, & awkward ones, too. I'm glad I read the whole thing because it did have a sweet ending, but there were a few times when I wanted to give up on it. It took a really long time to get the female main character's complete back story told, and the way it was done made her a little irritating. Sometimes these things are subjective, so don't let my feelings on it deter you. Give it a go if it sounds like a story you'd enjoy. Like I said, it did have its good points, and I would definitely read more from this author.

I started this one on audible, but at like 33% of the way I had to turn it off and read it. I had trouble getting into the story and thought it would help if I wasn’t multi tasking. It helped some.

Heavy content, and while I was rooting for Emma and Reed, I just had trouble getting invested in their story. Or really believing the side characters. Lala, I would assume knows or suspects, what happened in Emma’s past, but is still obnoxiously trying to push her to a man? And I liked the idea of Nora, I really didn’t like how her character was written. The story dragged on often as well.

This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. You feel all the feels and it is such an amazing story. Tragic, heartbreaking, and one of the best love stories I have read possibly ever. Ugh. I’m just gonna keep crying now. Must read!

Oh I have such mixed reviews on this book. It was the type of romance that I am a sucker for so I truly enjoyed almost every minute of listening to it! It did hinge a little bit on the whole I just can't stay away and I don't know why. That is not my favorite. Emma HATED Reed from the beginning, for no good reason. She was outright rude to him on multiple occasions but for some reason he still wanted to be around her?
The love story was sweet though. And I am a sucker for a man who will burn the world down for his girl. I love Reed and his tenderness with consent and his constant verbalization of what he was goin to do so Emma wouldn't be caught off guard. He was a man of unlimited patients. Especially with how long it took Emma to trust him.
Reed's back story with his family also didn't make a ton of sense to me. Like he was so angry because they didn't communicate with him? While he was in the military? And had no contact with them? And then it was all healed and better in the course of one afternoon after years? Then when Emma and Reed go to visit it's all happiness and sunshine. No residual anger or tension? They all are just apparently the perfect happy family. It just wasn't realistic to me.
Also, Reed just getting off after beating up the jerk dude was crazy unreal! Like you literally attacked a man without provocation as an officer! There is no way you just get to walk away from that! Especially as the guy is a lawyer! I don't care what he did, no judge is just gonna be good with it because "he touched your girl".
