I understand Emma had a lot of trauma but my God she was giving me whip lash with all the back and forth.. One minute wanting Reed the next she don't.. She was driving me crazy.. Then the whole thing with her not wanting to be around Nick because of the incident that happened with her mother made no sense.. the way she acted around Nick I thought he had done something to her when really he just saw that her mama wasn't shit... I did like when she came around and finally accepted her feelings for Reed.. I liked that Reed was patient with Emma he never made her do anything she didn't want and moved at the pace she set... I liked when they went to visit his family and all the craziness that came with it.. Overall I enjoyed this

DNF on chapter 16. Boring. I don’t have time to waste on boring books. Been on a role with good books lately, so not gonna waste my time by forcing myself to finish.

Okay, soo this book is bad but I ate it up

I could not put it down!!! It was so emotional and sweet and complex!!! If you need a good cry but don’t wanna be left upset this is the book for you!

This book was supposed to have dark tones to it, but the characters just didn't sell me. They also had a bad case of insta love, but I listened to it on audio and it was a nice easy listen.

I would rate this as 3.5. It was a good read but as a sexual assault survivor, I find it not believable for the main character, Emma, to start having sex with Reed just a few weeks into a building relationship. The story set up Emma as having difficulty to break through a barrier for her to trust men, especially when those men are cops. This would have been a lot more believable if more time was allowed to build a relationship between Reed and Emma. I feel this would have been an easy fix only adding a few more pages to the story.

Not for me
Agonizingly slow.
So much repetitive conversations but also so much lost information. I felt confused a lot of the time bc it didn’t make sense. Poorly written.
I would have DNF but I just decided to listen to it on 3x speed and finished it while doing chores.

“Lie to me, Emma”

Oof, what a roller coaster of emotions this one was and a big ball of “WHO HURT YOU”

Bless Reed and his undying love and need to never wanting to give up on Emma because man, that takes a lot to not want to give up on someone so guarded and pushing someone away. Even after that third act breakup.

Emma, Whoof. My heart aches for you. And the many others that have gone through and suffered what you have endured. But not going to lie the miscommunication issue causing me to roll my eyes and audible “oh my god seriously just TALK TO HIM” though very glad and personal growth moment when Emma was able to have the forethought to record her confrontation with Jarrett at the end AND speak with the cops at the end.

Overall, really enjoyed and captivated by the story. Kept wanting to know more about each character’s background and wanted them to have their HEA. Loved little Nora as well and her story ❤️
