I love this series so much. I love all these characters. I'm obsessed.
"...just like that you melt the ugly emotions inside me and the muddled anxiety bit by bit. Why would somebody like you be with me? Why would you cry for me? How could I even ask for that? I sure as hell don't have the right. Even you being with me is a mistake and yet this time I find myself thinking I wanna take care of you and that I don't wanna leave you. I'm wishing for it" (pg 287-289).

This volume covers a few of my favourite arcs but most notably being Tohru encountering Kyo's true form and fighting against her feelings about it because she loves him - it really highlights Tohru's strength as a character and her unending compassion. It also meets Kyo where he needs to be met in order to accept that love.
Kyo's relationship with his mentor really shines this volume also. The found family dynamic the two have while being too surrounded in their own guilt to name it as such... its amazing. I always love how Fruits Basket shines best when showing in depth the bonds between two people, even if those bonds are toxic.
