It's just OK. Can't compare to the chilling feel of the first.
I love how this series doesn’t just have truly scary stories it also has truly funny stories and some that are corny. I love it all!!
Classic. Reread as an adult after the movie came out to see what bits were drawn from.
I read this very scarcely when I was a kid. I kept seeing the books around, but I never actually picked them up until I went to target the other day. I bought 1 and 3 (no more #2). I read both of them in less than an hour. These are definitely great stories to tell around a cool campfire. Some may be a bit strong for smaller children. The great thing that adds that horror factor is the black and white illustrations. These books are definitely a treasure that must be kept forever. I'll list some of my favorites below:
1. The Bus Stop
2. Just Delicious
3. Bess
4. Harold
5. The Dead Hand
6. Such Things Happen
7. The Wolf Girl
8. Maybe You Will Remember
9. The Red Spot
I forgot to say also that I really appreciate the bibliography and the added notes and sources about these myths and folklores at the end of the books. The stories were even better in this addition. Would it be much to ask for a part 4?

At first, I had felt quite disinclined to read this one, having read book #1 & book #2. I didn't hate those books, but I also didn't love them much either. They had just been two quick, refreshing reads for me and I wasn't interested in this series anymore. But then I thought (my OCD thought), just a tiny li'l book is what I'm leaving out in this series and if it doesn't get any better, it can't possibly be a waste of time. Hence, I started reading this book and guess what. IT DOES GET BETTER!!! The assortment of stories for this piece is much better than its predecessors; even the artwork by Stephen Gammell is way spookier and vivid. This is the best book in the Scary Stories series, I believe. Anyone who didn't like the first two books should seriously try this one.
Stories I liked most:
• Maybe you will remember
• The trouble
• The hog (bcoz it made me really sad actually)
• Is something wrong
• THUPPPPPPP

I had time today so while at a barnes and noble I sat down and read this for the first time in years.
The stories are fine, but I'm rating this higher because I loved it so much as a kid. This and the other books were some of my first introductions to horror and thus deserve some of my praise.

Scary Stories 3 was a delightful find. The stories are based on legends, folktales and urban myths, with a nice appendix full of references. All of the stories are incredibly short, with some just half a page in length. These would make great stories for around the campfire. I was impressed with the efficiency of the writing; every word mattered.
Standouts include 'Harold', 'The Appointment', 'Bess', and 'Just Delicious'.
