A group of moms who call themselves the “May Mothers” since they all gave birth on the same month. They get together twice a week in a park to bond and it sorta became an outlet to release the stress from motherhood duties. So one night, they planned to hang at a bar and have drinks. That night one of the mom’s babies goes missing. The story unfolds as the police investigation begins and more secrets are revealed.

I love psychological thrillers and listening to the audiobook version of this one was something I enjoyed thoroughly. Knowing it’s a book with female character leads is a plus. However it felt like something was lacking overall. I think it was an okay read and it it felt like a typical kidnapping thriller read so a 3 for me.

This book was soooooooo good!!! Like I literally could not put it down. It was so good!!! Made me damn glad I don’t have a baby. And made me appreciate how generally good all my experiences were. Man this book was SO GOOD!!! #engelbrechtreads2018 #engelbrechtreads

The story line as a whole is/sounds intriguing but somewhere along the line it became like background noise. Just wanted to get through it. No real impact left.

I've been disappointed by a lot of thrillers lately, but this one kept me engaged and definitely turned in a way I wasn't expecting. A fun vacation read.

I need more Aimee Molloy books in my life. ASAP

Molloy's "Perfect Mother" celebrates female friendship, explores the titular concept of what it means to be the ideal mother, and it does all of this within the parameters of a mysterious missing child case. It's not your typical whodunit, but it's a page-turner that may have you asking yourself some interesting questions, and I was a surprised at some of these twists and turns

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated

Picked this up because I thought Goodnight Beautiful was great. It was interesting to see how Molloy's technique improved book to book but I found Perfect Mother (the earlier book) comparatively unsatisfying. The obfuscation was clever but muddied by too many characters, some of whom acted too implausibly.

I'm rounding to 3 but I'm not sure it's even 3. I enjoyed the beginning but then I just got bored. And it was pretty uneventful. Having read Goodnight Beautiful first, made this book a huge letdown.
