This was a super fun second installment in a witchy romance series. I didn’t pick this book (or the first one) up expecting mind-blowing, life-changing literature. I picked this up bc I wanted to read something light that felt like spooky season. This one, much like the first, hit those marks. 4⭐️

The premise:
Our main characters are Gwyn and Wells. Gwyn is a modern and progressive witch who owns and runs a novelty witchy store. Wells is an old school, Welsh witch who moves to the city of Graves Glen to keep an eye on things for his father. Wells’ youngest brother, Rhys, is the MMC of the first book, and Gwen’s cousin, Vivi, is the MFC of the first book.

Gwyn and Wells are mild enemies from back in their school days as she has a memory of him humiliating her. Wells opens a similarly novelty, although much higher class, witchy store right across the street from her. This is an enemies to lovers trope and a bit of forced proximity with them owning stores directly across the street from each other.

My thoughts:
I think Gwyn and Wells romance was sweet. I’ve seen critique that they didn’t have enough meaningful conversation, but I disagree. I feel like their chemistry was well conveyed.

My favorite part of Erin Sterling’s writing is that I feel like I can see Graves Glen in my head. There isn’t a huge amount of really vivid description, but she does a good job conveying the feel of the city.

I’ve got the 3rd installment en route from Amazon now!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a good second instalment in the series.

Gwyn is such a fun, quirky, loveable main character. She is so brave and it was great seeing her throughout this book. Wells’ character progression throughout was also really really good, you could definitely see an improvement in him emotional from the start to the end of the book. The enemies to lovers trope in this was really enjoyable to read.

I also like how we still got the inclusion of Vivi and Rhys from the last book and saw how they are now.

The plot of this was interesting. I like the competitive store aspect, thought that could be quite funny. I also like the mystery as to why Gwyn’s magic isn’t working, I didn’t figure out the twist/ cause of it so that was really good

Can’t wait to see what the next book entails, we left this one where some kinda big events had happened and I wanna know how/ if that will appear in the next book

There is something that I love about this series so far that I can't quite place. Even with the occasional life or death situation, there is just something so...cozy about it! Past that, I did enjoy the surprise double villain twist at the end. Wells' dad works great as an overarching villain in this series. I did feel like the climax was a bit rushed, but I loved the rest of the book enough that all is forgiven. And Sir Purrsival continues to be amazing!

I really love witchy books of any kind and this was no exception. A great follow up to the first.
