i don't think this is a bad book but i certainly did not enjoy it. i was committed to finishing it because the overarching plot was interesting but the process of reading this was agonizing (not in a good way).
i felt like most of this book glamorized codependency and abuse in relationships. it made me pretty uncomfortable to read.
the characters weren't fleshed out in a way that served the plot much, felt very one dimensional.
this was my second k ancrum book and it was a hard fall from the greatness of icarus. would not recommend. would not reread.
