My god. THIS BOOK.
It was intense, it was unbelievable, it was heartbreaking. It was full of hate and love and passion and pain and anger. It was absolutely TOUCHING.
The characters, the story, the realistic touch, the author's note at the end, I loved it all and honestly that author's note was the tipping point for my tears.
Truly stunning.

Super mixed feelings on this one. I loved the second half of the book, but the first half was a bit too confusing for my taste. I do think that was intentional on the author's part, but I just felt so lost for such a large portion of the book that I kept feeling my attention slipping. But towards the end, things really picked up and were explained. I do think most things I was confused about made sense by then end and I appreciated the complexity, but if I hadn't listened to this in audiobook format, I might not have pushed through to the second half.

Something to know before reading: August and Jack are flawed, incredibly so.
August and Jack had me messed up, they really did. I appreciate the fact that they realize what they had wasn’t healthy and i love that they’ll grow and learn to love each other in a healthy manner after all of this. The note from the author was also very important and i just love the message in it.

Mit dem fängt die Geschichte auch an. Daher weiß man eigentlich schon von Anfang an, wie zumindest ein Teil der Geschichte ausgeht. Danach passieren aber auch noch Sachen und ich muss sagen ich hab irgendwie mit einer krasseren Auflösung gerechnet 😅 Also ich fands jetzt nicht schlecht, aber etwas enttäuscht war ich schon. Außerdem hatte ich gelesen, dass Leute es mega traurig fanden und das war es an sich schon auch, aber ich muss sagen es hat mich jetzt nicht in dem Sinne groß mitgenommen. An einer Stelle hatte ich ganz kurz Tränen in den Augen, aber mehr nicht.
Insgesamt hat es mir aber gut gefallen, allein schon durch die Aufmachung. Sonst lese ich ja eher ebooks, aber hier empfiehlt sich wirklich die Printfassung. Die Seiten werden mit der Zeit dunkler, bis sie ganz schwarz sind, um den mentalen Zustand der Hauptcharaktere auszudrücken. Außerdem gibt es auch sehr viele Bilder im Buch und die Kapitel sind maximal 2-3 Seiten lang, oft kürzer. Das Buch ist also generell sehr viel kürzer als man denkt und ich hab es in einem Rutsch gelesen.
Was mir am besten gefallen hat war die Beziehung und Dynamik von Jack und August. Definitiv nicht gesund das Ganze, aber sehr interessant. Die sind halt total abhängig voneinander und tja, in ihrer eigenen Welt 😅 Ich bin auch auf das Buch aufmerksam geworden, da es als mlm Story empfohlen wurde, aber ich würde es nicht wirklich empfehlen, wenn man eine Liebesgeschichte lesen will. Es ist schon auf jeden Fall so eine Liebe da, aber erst sehr spät wird das wirklich deutlich. Ich bin ja auch so jemand, der gerne noch mehr von einer Beziehung sieht, daher war mir das ein bisschen zu wenig, was das anbelangt. Trotzdem mag ich die beiden sehr ♡

I thought this book was so good! I really liked the mixed media aspect of the story and how the pages went from white to black as the story progressed. I thought it brought another dimension to the story.
I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. It's weird. It's weird and dark and brutal and compelling in a way that draws you deeper until you're not really sure where you are or how you got there but you just want it to keep going. The mental health representation in this book is so frank and unapologetic. The characters make you root for them even as you cringe away from the absolute mess they're making of their lives. And while the story is amazing, the layout of the book is stunning and adds so much to the reading experience! I'm excited to read the novella and can't wait for the second book!
Déjà l'objet livre est beau : les pages qui deviennent de plus en plus sombres à mesure qu'on avance dans l'histoire et donc dans la "folie" de Jack et August, le tout est illustré par des photos et des documents, bref j'aime beaucoup !
Que dire de l'histoire ? C'est beau, dur parfois, sombre aussi. La fin me convient parfaitement. J'aurais bien aimé avoir plus de romance mais ce n'est clairement pas le sujet du roman donc c'est pas si grave.
Le côté maladie mentale me semble réaliste, je ne m'y connais pas dans celles présentées ici mais l'autrice a l'air d'avoir fait des recherches à ce sujet.
