Three and a half. Gritty mysteries aren’t my thing, but I enjoyed the world building.

Pretty good but very bittersweet. It felt like a female Dresden Files and I enjoyed it. I may continue with the series in a bit as I am interested in Tybalt and his connection to Toby.

🎉 First BR of 2019 with the newly rebranded MacHalo Asylum for Mischief and Mayhem (MAM²) 🎉

Ever have one of those epiphanies that just screams you’re a complete moron? I’d been having one since I got out of the car.

First BR of 2019 with the loonies.

A lot of firsts for this book all around. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would when I started reading. It is fresh and good work as a "First" of many a kind.

Plus ♥ Tybalt ♥

Moving on to Book #2!

Not really my jam; I'd rather use the time to read something else.

"It can't all be dreams because a broken dream will kill you as surely as a nightmare will, and with a lot less mercy. At least the nightmares don't smile while they take you down."

This series was recommended to me by a friend and I (finally) picked up the first book! The story follows our main character October (Toby), a changeling, who has been tasked/cursed with finding who murdered her friend Evening Winterrose, a high-powered figure in their world.

It did take me a little bit to get into this world and keep track of all of the different races and other story lines, but knowing this is part of a series, I understand McGuire needed to set a good starting point for the rest of the books. Once the main story got going, I was hooked. I also really liked Toby (even when she made questionable decisions). The ending was pretty satisfying. I look forward to continuing the series!

i just want to take an extended break from it 😭 the MC is kind of an asshole towards the younger characters and it’s making me cringe.
