A true classic. I'd never read this version (I knew the myth, and had read Cocteau's weirdly genius play) and wanted to know the most famous version, safe to say I wasn't disappointed : the tragic irony is so simply written yet so damn painful to read. However, it's not my favourite ancient play, and after Cocteau's version's impression on me (Tiresias being named Zizi is simply incredible), I just couldn't rate this one higher.

Excellent, but unfortunately most everyone already knows the twist even before opening the book, as it is so well known.

I certainly didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either. I just remember how much it bugged me that my AP English Lit teacher said Oedipus wrong. Especially when I had a Greek and Roman's Studies class that same year, with a teacher who actually pronounced it the right way. But maybe it's having both teachers' influences that made me like it to some degree? Who knows, man.
But this book is fucked up. That's my review. It's WILD. I mean, the incest? Makes my skin crawl every time.
