Oh how I LOVE Scaredy Squirrel! In this book Scaredy tackles camping. His plan is to enjoy the great outdoors without bothering to go into the great outdoors; what better way to enjoy nature than through your TV?
This plan poses a very big problem though, trees don't have electricity. Scaredy devises a plan to utilize an extremely long extension cord, but he'll have to avoid all of the potential dangers of the campgrounds to get to the electrical outlet.
As is characteristic of this character and this series, this book was very funny! The best aspects of camping are showcased and by story's end Scaredy taps into his love of nature (in his own Scaredy way).
A great independent read for grades 2-4.

I think this is a book for perusal/reading by a kid on their own, much like Richard Scarry.
I love Scaredy Squirrel and his amazing plans. Especially when he ends up re-thinking them :) Always great discussions too about negotiating something new with the kids. Fun to draw maps and plans afterwards as activities.
Another funny installment in the consistently entertaining Scaredy Squirrel series.
Love that theme that gets tucked in as a P.S. on the very last page:
"Some things are worth the trouble."

Scaredy Squirrel and I have a similar feeling about camping- it is best to avoid it! As Scaredy tries to get ready to enjoy a camping show on his TV in the comfort of his own home, he discovers that he will have to venture out to plug the TV in, and so the adventure begins. Readers are sure to love going along with Scaredy Squirrel on this adventure in the woods!
