This is the third book in the Knockemout series, and it's about Lucian and Sloan. Lucian and Sloan were neighbours while growing up. Lucian did not have the easiest youth, and Sloan saw that as his neighbour and came to the rescue. In the meantime, they got a special bond going on between the two of them. Now, years later, there is this grudge that made them enemies. But when Sloan's father dies and Sloan becomes a target, they rekindle.
I had such high expectations of this book, and it just did not give me what I needed it to give me. Don't get me wrong, I adored this book. It simply did not give me what I expected after the previous two books. I thought I was getting this intense chemistry between Lucian and Sloan, but we hardly had any love story. SPOILER: they just had this physical chemistry, and then out of nothing, Lucian announced they were a couple? That is not how I expected their love story to go. Besides that, as @whatsdesreading also mentioned in her videos, the side stories and other characters where too much in this book. It really took away from Lucian and Sloan. They deserved so much more.

I have a love-hate relationship with this woman. I get sucked into her books but they're so long and certain things give me secondhand embarrassment

i had so much fun with this read! truly a book that made me giggle and smile unexpectedly. i loved the banter between lucian and sloane, as well as the snippets of the text messages that the characters sent to one another. yes, i know that this book is slightly unbelievable and the way that the characters sometimes talk can be a little cringey (kind of like the use of the word 'cringe'), but i had a fun time reading it and at the end of the day, that's what i remember when i look back at my reading experience with this book.
i loved the flashbacks to lucian and sloane's teenage years, and i think it was an important addition in order to understand the tension between lucian and sloane that we've gotten used to from the previous two novels in the series.
however, i do think the mystery subplot of this one was not on the same level of the previous two novels, and though I'm not picking up these books for the mystery element, it felt a bit like it was a waste.
this book rounds out the knockemout series, and i think it does a really good job of tying up all the loose threads from the previous two novels. I'm really going to miss this cast of characters, and i hope that lucy score finds a way to incorporate these characters into any future series she might write!

This had the best pacing of the three, and Lucian and Sloan have great banter. ❤️
