Free with Kindle unlimited. It was sweet. But just too Hallmark-y sweet for my taste.

Another short novel of fall romance in Maple Falls with a hockey player.

Picture Stars Hallow, but instead of Dean or Jess with Rory, make it a hockey guy.

And he is also her brother's best friend.

This sweet short read is perfect to get into the fall mood, or hockey season.

Thank you NetGalley and Poets & Saints Publishing for my E-ARC.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 3 in the Love on Thin Ice Series, a multi author hockey series, and can be read as a standalone. The Friend Face Off is told through Emmy and Dawson's pov and is a sweet brother's best friend romance.

Though Dawson is a hockey player and there are some scenes and mentions of the charity game his team is competing in, this book isn't heavily focused on the sport but rather the growing of his and Emmy's relationship. I liked how Dawson was ready to prove to Emmy that he cared for her and that a relationship could be possible between them. He wasn't scared to show her how he felt but also wasn't forceful with his feelings. I'll admit that it took me a while to warm up to Emmy with how she kept coming up with reasons to try and push him away and I would've liked to see more growth from her. However, the moments that they shared while going on dates were cute and I liked the slight You've Got Mail vibes. This was a clean romance was kisses that didn't get too heated and no curse words were used. Overall, this book is worth the try.

What a great story. I loved it!

The author did an excellent job keeping the story going and interesting. I read it in one day that is how good it is.

The characters are likable, and I loved Dawson and Emily's story. The chemistry between the 2 characters was funny and lovable. Which makes it right up my alley!

Highly recommend! Even though it is part of a multi-author series you don't have to read the others to understand The Friend Face Off. It is the perfect stand-alone.

Special thanks to NetGalley for giving me this e-book in exchange for an authentic review!

"I wanted to read the book because you liked it and I wanted to know why. When I got halfway through it, I saw the other side of this tough hockey guy. All the little ways he won his girl over. Then I wondered, Is this what women want? Is this what you want?"

Plot:
Emmy, a romance reader, has challenged anyone to change her mind that men like the books she read about did not exist. Little did she know, Dawson, her brother’s best friend and hockey player, has decided to take her up on her challenge. Emmy accepts his offer with the idea that their relationship will come to an end once he is drafted onto an NHL team in Seattle but before he leaves, Dawson still has one secret to tell her.

Thoughts:
THIS! BOOK! HAD! ME! GIGGLING! AND! BLUSHING! It’s been a minute since this has happened to me! Overall, I loved the feeling this book gave me! The rom-com cheesiness really made me love it even more! Also, with the author mentioning TikTok and Booktok, I did not cringe as much as I usually do when those things are mentioned. Y’all the way Dawson was just confessing left and right to Emmy!! He was so straightforward with his feelings without pushing her!! HE READ AND ANNOTATED A BOOK FOR HER BOOKCLUB!! omg I’m not sad about this at all!! And their little “argument” (not the right word for it) literally had me wanting to throw my kindle because THAT SHOULD BE ME!! I just loved them both so much and it seriously had me wanting what they have! I think this is a sign to check out the other parts of this series!

Shewie! What a fabulous ride! Grace Worthington scores a fabulous goal with this amazing story about the bookish girl making a match with a Hockey Jock. The fact that Dawson fell first and harder, and that he goes out of his way to prove his love to Emmy, and prove to her that he really is the man for her.

So many fabulous scenes in this book, and so many heartwarming ways that Dawson is THE perfect man for Emmy. *chef's kiss*
