I wanted a nice, fun, easy read and since there's been a lot of talk about Vampire Academy becoming a TV series, I thought what better than this to pick up.
I love how easy this was to read. It was one of the pinnacle books that got me into reading when it stopped being a chore for school. It touches on some real issues with depression and that was something I'd forgotten and it was very ahead of time to have this in these books. It was a nice surprise. It was also a little darker than I remembered.
I'm definitely enjoying this trip down memory lane.

I came across vampire academy via instagram and when my best friend told me about the film as she had watched it. From her description i knew i just had to read it and ended up watching the film before i read the book. i really wished that i had read the book first but it was also good to see the differences between the book and the film when i read it.
The book is about mainly about these two best friends/ sisters, who are part of world of vampires. There are 3 different types of vampires in their world, they are moroi who are vampires that rare gift of harnessing earth’s magic, damphirs who have a mix of human and vampire blood in them so they don’t have to drink blood to survive and can go out in sunlight and also strigoi who are the bad vampires of the books. In this book the strigoi are after lissa who is the last remaining dragomir princess to be alive after a fatal accident. Rose who is lissa’s best friend is determined to keep her safe as she is a dhampir who are the guardians of moroi. At the beginning rose and lissa are dragged back to the academy after they have run away and so for the story begins of their life in the academy but all is not what seems.
One of the major things in this book is the bond in which lissa and rose share. this is a one way bond in that rose can feel and see what is happening to lissa but lissa cant see it back or tell when its happening. The way the bond moments are written in the books makes you feel as if you are also in lissa’s head and can feel hows she feeling herself. Another thing i loved about this books was all the romance that was bursting at the seams inside. there was lissa and christian romance which we saw build and progress over the book and also the forbidden romance between rose and dimitri. its was fun to watch them try and hide their emotions from each other during the book.
I absolutely loved the way in which richelle wrote these books as she made you connect with the characters that you ended up thinking you were also in that story and felt all the emotions in which all the characters were feeling. when you get to the end of this book it makes you want to jump straight back into the world agian by picking up the next book straight after putting down this one.
I would definatley recommend this book to anyone who loves romance whether it be forbidden or not and also for people who love their fantasy and paranormal books as it is a perfect book to pick up and start reading.

I learn about Vampire Academy accidentally. While I was going to google Vampire Diaries, by mistake, I pressed Vampire Academy.
BEST MISTAKE I'VE EVER MADE
Vampire Academy is the best book I've ever read.
However, I didn''t always think so.

After a car crash in which both Lissa's parents and her brother died, Rose and Lissa escape from St. Vladimir's Academy, or Vampire Academy.
Lissa is a member of the Dragomir royal line, and after her parents' death, she's the only one left to continue her bloodline. That's why everyone goes looking for her. Rose does a great job hiding them.2 years later, Dimitri Belikov, a Russian dhampir and one of the best guardians out there, finds them and they're back to the Academy once again.
After 2 years of having dropped out, Rose knows nothing about how to protect moroi or fight strigoi (bad vampires) so Dimitri becomes her mentor.
The story is written in Rose's pint of view, which is very entertaing since Rose is not like most girl characters that bore you to death. She's funny, sarcastic, impulsive and witty.
This book is like a drug to me. I've read it too many times and I'll keep reading it as long as I find something better. (which will never happen)

OMG Wat an amzing book!!
The thing that i loved most about this book is how independent and strong Rose is. Though she can get a little over excited and say things she shouldnt, I think that is what makes her such a likable character. She is very easy to relate with.She's very realistic because she's strong and an amazing friend but she isn't perfect.
Another awesome thing about this book is Dimitri & Rose's love for one another. I like that it wasn't "the moment i saw him i knew i loved him" kind of thing it was a genuine attraction and relationship that built up and made them fall for each other. They understand one another and Richelle Mead just makes you want to fall in love with him while routing for them.
I love that rose isn't self involved and is very responsible. I think this is DEFINATE MUST READ for people that loved twilight, or that love a great paranormal romance, or just want to read and amzing book. All the characters are well devoloped and you begin to care for them.
