Another great book

I felt the first few chapters were written more like a history book, but then the rest of the book were in Ayse's normal style. Another great book by one of my favorite author 's.

It took me many tries to start reading this book. When I finally did, it didn't take long to get through as it was written as vignettes, essentially. She was written similarly to how a man would write a woman. In the sense that all men were obsessed with her and all women wanted to be her, supposedly. But she kinda sucked, she pushed literally everyone away so that she could fly free. There was nothing of real substance to her or this book.

I read this entire book thinking that what I was reading was a novel with a plotline made up out of thin air. I had no idea that it was a book based on the life of a real person: Aylin Radomisli Cates.

Wow! What a life. This woman lived five lifetimes in one. According to this book, her lifestyle and beliefs were very much outside of Turkish norms. The unanswered mystery is how and why she was so different - in a culture that places such a high value on conformity.

I think this woman's life deserves a real, researched biography with footnotes.

Aylin açgözlü bir orospudur. Herkes onu seviyor.
