The Cottage on Sunshine Beach by Holly Martin

Melody Rosewood loves her new home in idyllic Sandcastle Bay. The beautiful little cottage on the edge of Sunshine Beach, with its bright yellow door and view of the sea has captured her heart. And she loves being close by to her family and best friend Tori Graham.

Life by the sea is pretty much perfect, there’s just one thing missing…

Gorgeous Jamie Jackson, with his cheeky grin and adorable puppy, works as a sculptor opposite Melody’s jewellery shop. From the moment he and Melody meet sparks fly. But despite their instant attraction, a past heartache is holding Jamie back.

Following on from reading The Holiday Cottage by the Sea, I wasted no time in moving on with the series. This is a relatively short book but it was very addictive. Whilst this is the second book in the Holly Martin's Sandcastle Bay series, I feel that it could be read as a standalone - but I would recommend reading the series in order to avoid any potential spoilers.

In a stark contrast to many of the books I have read recently, this is a warm, welcoming book with no major twists. A truly delightful read and a very welcome escape from reality.

Rating 5/5

This book is the perfect reason why sometimes it's okay to choose a book by it's cover. The sweet cover is why I was drawn to this novel and from start to finish this book was a sweet lovely read.

I didn't realize until partway through this book that it's part of a series (second after Holiday Cottage by the Sea) but I wasn't too lost outside of having a lot of character names thrown at me at once. They are pretty quick to sort out and I feel this is very easily a standalone novel.

This book follows the Melody and Jamie who are on the verge of risking a great friendship for a possible even better relationship. Is it worth the risk though? Not going to lie, I'd have hubby'd Jamie up based on his pet name choices alone (Harry Potter themed!). SIGH. As you can tell, I quickly fell in love with not only these characters but the world they are in as well. If you aren't giggling by the end of the puppy training session, then I think you must be the grinch.

This is the PERFECT summertime read! If you are looking for a sweet romance with a lot of laughs and some heartstring tugs (THE ENDING!) then pick this up immediately!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my review.

Another beautiful book by Holly Martin - her books never fail to bring a smile to your face and warm you up inside. A lovely story, I especially enjoyed how natural the storyline was with relatable characters.
lighthearted fast-paced

Spoilers Ahead: So I wanted to try a different author for romance recently. It’s well-written, and once I got into it I finished it quickly, but I did have trouble getting into it at first. I like Melody’s quirks, the clumsiness gives her a flaw that makes her more realistic as a character, which I love. I think there were a lot of names introduced at once, and, for me at least I did get confused with the names at a few points in the book. There wasn’t a very juicy problem in the story, apart from towards the end, and it felt kind of rushed and out in there as a last resort. It was nice to read something different though!
