This is my first second-chance romance and I COULD not stand the miscommunication that went on between the two. The MMC seemed to be reaching out with all the right words and the FMC kept fighting herself in her head, even when the man was standing in front of her and asking her to speak her mind. The last straw was the tabloid—and she’s asking for a break after a week. I t seems like the fmc is not strong minded to me and makes me question if she should be pursuing relationships at all. I wanted them to work so bad, and it seemed like communication was not going to work between them to just lay their burdens flat on the table and stop withholding information.

I loved this story and I think it was so cute.
This def gave me 5 star feels from the very beginning but the hero of the story is just a little bit eh for me in some instances and I am just not a fan of the miscommunication trope.
However, with that out of the way, this story was funny and an interesting concept that I have not read in romance yet. I love the fact that our main character is a strong female and interested in film making, and I also think just being in her mind and her dealing with people as a receptionist is something that i could relate too.
So when her ex comes to her job as a famous director and shes a receptionist, you already know that it was going to be messy and dramatic and HAWT. The chemistry between both of these characters was so believable and fun to read.

i really liked it and had a good time, though there were moments i was like 😵💫. the leads parents love story was such a beautiful anchor to the book
This one was just not for me….
Pros: Honestly, Bella was one of the only characters I liked? Some of the romance was fine but I do think the only reason I was rooting for them was because I didn’t want to have suffered through all of that just for them to not end up together.
Cons: The writing style was just not it for me and constantly took me out of the story. Every other sentence was some extensive simile or metaphor, which in doses can be a great tool, but if that’s the only way things are described it gets old really quickly. I also just couldn’t get behind the so called sweeping love story between our main characters. You’re telling me they dated for A COUPLE MONTHS in college, he cheated (but didn’t even actually and it’s just a big miscommunication ugh), leading to them not speaking for SEVEN years and then they meet again and are so obsessed with each other he breaks off his current relationship to be with her? And then one small obstacle and oh no it’s too hard again. Anyways, rant over, I just couldn’t buy into it.
I really wanted to like this book and did like the premise, it just fell flat for me. But not every book is for everyone and that’s okay! 🤷♀️
