Lauren Layne books are usually 5 stars for me and I liked Gracie but the romance was so lacking in this and it was way too slow burn to justify the quick ending which is why it took me two weeks to read this

This book was so cutesy and feel good! Such a light and lovey enemies-to-lovers book that really got me into the Valentine’s Day mood.

emotional funny lighthearted reflective
Loveable characters: Yes

I hated the opening jokes, and it took a while for me to get into this book. The online messages were often weak to me and didnt quite fit, in my opinion. I didnt understand how the FMC could already consider herself in love with her online pal when there didnt seem to be much meat in their conversations. But, after a while the sparks started flying, and by the end I loved the main couple and the FMC's family and friends.

Gracie Cooper, champagne shop owner, Disney loving daydreamer, hopeless romantic and watercolour artist. In her quest for love (she knows what her dream man will look like) joins a dating app. One where instead of matching on looks (there are no photos and real names) you build a connection through messages. And she is building a connection, with “Sir”. But then irl there’s Sebastian, with his aqua eyes, who she’s drawn to but can’t stand.

This is a sweet little romance, the perfect summer read. Gracie is likeable and has a nice chemistry with the other characters. There are some lovely moments with her friends and family alongside the romance. Personally I would have liked to have had a bit more of Sebastian in the book earlier on. It’s lighthearted story but there were a couple of moments which made me a bit emotional.

I wasn’t sure if the reveal at the end of who “Sir” really was was supposed to be a surprise, this is how it seems to be written, as it was already given away in the description.

i am that one lady gaga gif of all the praises.

i am going to be giggling over this perfection for the next five business days (maybe forever).

i am definitely going to be thinking about this at various points for the rest of my life.

I've seen a lot of reviews claiming that this book is so different than all of her other books. Since this is my first Lauren Layne book I had no preconceived notions and I thought it was really fun. It was light and charming and I flew right through the story.
I love the movie "You've Got Mail" and I thought this was a great retelling.
