22 years ago, Kate arrives at a guesthouse in Dover, England. She arrives very late because the cab driver got lost and drove to the wrong guesthouse. Her college classmates and professor were also staying at this guesthouse, but they had already gone to bed. Kate checks in, gets her key, goes to her room, and falls asleep. She wakes up the next morning to find that all her classmates and professor were murdered during the night. She was the only one left alive.
In the present, Darcy, Camilla, and Kate have all become friends due to the tragedy of the murders at the Dover guesthouse. Darcy is also going through a divorce, so she decides to treat her friends to a divorce party in the Maldives. While staying at the luxury resort, they meet Jade, a young newlywed, who has bruises and seems fearful of her controlling husband. The POVs are mostly Darcy, Camilla, and Kate, but there are some chapters for Jade and Jacob, Darcy’s ex-husband. I was thoroughly entertained by this book from the first chapter. The short chapters were great and moved the story along quickly. Also, I enjoyed the twist at the end.

Ironically, I feel AI had to have written part of this book. Some of it was worded so oddly, and other things just plain didn't make sense. I would skip this one.

The premise of this intrigued me but it was so poorly executed. I read 321 pages and never really felt like I got to know the characters beyond the superficial. That's probably why the ending also just seemed so far out there.

Three women, bonded by a tragic loss, travel to the Maldives for a much-needed vacation. But things go wrong quite rapidly. While this is a thriller, it’s also about the different ways female rage is manifested. Good, not great. Probably could have been 75 pages shorter.
