I found it to be too slow and it didn’t keep my attention.
Well written book. Not as suspenseful as I expected based on the description of the book. Greatly appreciated the author/book recommendations in author's notes.
Ohhh. So good. I don’t think I’d call this a thriller. More of a mystery. Or a police procedural but without of the police. Great writing, great characters.
Mostly read the first 10% and last 10%. Too violent for me.
Violent thug starts to turn over a new leaf and embrace Lakota culture, then decides violence works better after all.

An outstanding mystery novel set on a Native American reservation in South Dakota. Loved the vividness of the characters and setting, and especially the sharply-observed commentary on native life and the sad state of justice in Indian county. Sure, the baddie was pretty easy to identify, and the plot felt rather familiar, but the story was fast-paced and thrilling, and the ending was satisfying. Looking forward to more from this author.
