Solid thriller. Engaging. The protagonist is a great balance of getting his life in order and just messed up to be real and someone you root for. The story ties up perhaps too neatly, but the climax thriller scene and the ending is not only engaging but emotional and rooted.

I really liked the mix of thriller/violent vigilante persona and Lakota spirituality. I also loved the jabs at ignorant white weirdos.

I probably never would have picked up this book had it not been a book club pick but boy oh boy am I happy I read this.

It was a fantastic mystery thriller that had excellent descriptions and discussions about Native American culture and life on a reservation.

3.5 stars, rounded up. Promising start to a possible series, but some of the characters needed more depth and sometimes the dialogue and exposition was clunky.

Really enjoyed the storytelling and the representation of the Lakota people.

4.5 A historically rooted thriller that was both entertaining and informative :,)
