Really important history and current events. It's so obvious that the United States doesn't consider the Native American Nations to be actual nations and just walks all over them. Horrendous.

One of my personal favorites! The history recounted in this book is telling not only of Estes' passion but also the rich tradition of Native American oral history passed down by generations, intersecting with many topics, not limited to: Climate change, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, feminism and decolonization. For that reason alone I would recommend it to anyone. As for my personal interest in decolonization, this book was perfect to introduce many perspectives on top of previous writings, and introduced me to many scholars and activists engaged in a similar conversation.

There is a lot of history here thats presented really quick. While I did wish some points (The organizing history of AIM specifically for me) were covered in more depth, nothing was out of context. Written beautifully. Necessary read, my new favorite nonfiction

One of the most beautifully written non-fiction books I have ever read. An excellent primer on the history of indigenous resistance, and full of references to many other works on indigenous history written by the people from those communities. This should be required reading in schools.
