Fake dating meets Princess and the Poplar—not quite a Cinderella retelling.
I really loved the FMC and MMC, both individually and together. Their chemistry felt so authentic—awkward, cute, and steamy in the best way. And that ending? The library card scene had me kicking my feet like I was thirteen again. Adorable.
The beginning, middle, and end? All solid. But I’ll be real—somewhere around the middle-to-late chapters the plot got overly complicated out of nowhere, and it felt like it ran away from the author a little. Multiple mafias popped up (??) despite this not being a mafia book, and it only lasted a few chapters. I get why it was introduced—to tie off a twist—but it felt a little wedged in. I would’ve loved a deeper convo between MMC and FMC afterward to make it all feel more grounded within the world the author built.
That said, the author did wrangle it back, and the ending was super satisfying.
FMC’s friendships were another highlight—her connection with the other girls was really sweet, I just wish we got to see more of it instead of hearing about it. It felt like their bond developed mostly off-page.
Final verdict: a strong 4/5. I’d probably reread it, because it absolutely entertained me. Flaws and all, it was fun, heartfelt, and left me smiling.

This one took me a minute to get into but once I did, I couldn't put it down. I love a good neuro-divergent rep and this did not disappoint.
Del assumes the Cinderella role in this book and has to continue to fake many things in her life until she meets billionaire Beck and he cares enough to see her and get her to stop faking. Their love story grows from a place of false love and media attention and turns into a very real, raw, and true love. The false identity has to come to light eventually and it doesn't go the way you expect it to which was SO nice!
I cannot wait for Cordelia's story and hope that we still get snippets of Del and Beck because they are everything.

This book just wasn't for me! It was kind of a mess, honestly. Lots of manipulation on both sides.
Dilan’s debut novel Cinderella is Faking it was amazing. I really loved the mental health and neurodivergent rep. Dilan did an excellent job of carrying this out through the eyes of the characters. Beck was super attentive to Del and what she needed. I loved that he’d make sure she knew consent was a big thing each time—because it is. There’s a bunch of laughs and drama which makes the story even more memorable. This is a wonderful book and that everyone should definitely give it a chance! Who knows, this might be the perfect book for you.
