A great book, but the resolution could have been made much easier if Charlie only utilized a recording app on her phone!
This book was long but I enjoyed it. It was really good.

I bought this a while ago and never picked it up, then recently read the synopsis again and knew it was my perfect book. Boarding school! Exclusive club! Secret challenges! A mystery! This turned out to be the perfect guilty pleasure read for me. The multiple POVs, dual timeline, the secrets. For a debut, I was really impressed!
The only downside was it felt too long and repetitive and then suddenly wrapped up a little too quickly. I would have also enjoyed more danger.

Mediocre. It’s not a thriller, and things only get interesting in the last 25% of the book. It’s unnecessarily long. Is this a YA? There was so much repetition of the FMC going over the details about what she has learned in her investigation. If you’re on the fence about reading this…skip it.

I liked it; I really liked the focus on the mystery and that
Otherwise, I had a really hard time imagining the A's and how that could even exist, it feels so strange to me that there would be such an ongoing trend in a school that the teachers wouldn't have been able to taken care of. That part felt most unrealistic to me, I think I personally would have preferred it all to be just about the rich kids, their money and heritage.
Another thing I DID like though was how real and raw the story was in some parts, even though everything was censored in a YA kind of way the author still managed to tell a really good story without too much detail like
Overall I enjoyed the book and it increased my expectations for YA novels again, since they have been so low for the last few years.

they didn't focus as much on the romance. Otherwise it always feels like every problem in YA novels can be fixed with a boyfriend/girlfriend, but even though romance is a large part of the story here it still doesn't override the main story - which is her mother's disappearance. I also really like the fact that Dalton is even left out of it.
