This book was giving me serious Gossip Girl/Pretty little liars vibes, I did enjoy reading this however there were just a few elements I thought let the book down.
I really enjoyed the writing, and the multiple POVs and timelines really gave you a deeper understanding of the plot and I felt that they were written well. I did find the chapters to be abit lengthily and I found the first half of the book dragged but it did pick up and become more interesting in the 2nd half. I also think the whole book could have been maybe 100/150 pages less. This is the longest book I’ve read so far (504 pages) which kinda put me in a slump!
The only characters I really liked were Drew and Leo. Charlie’s character was interesting but I agree with her guidance counsellor about being narcissistic so I didn’t like her all that much!
I wasn’t a fan of the exclusive club the “A’s”.. I found the entire concept and the things they did incredibly childish and petty which kinda let the book down. I think they could have removed this concept entirely. I was disappointed with the ending because I wanted more closure and details about what happened to Charlie’s friends after the revelations, however this was just skipped over.
Overall, it’s an easy read and has some good mystery elements, I found it to be more YA focused which isn’t really my cup of tea.

40% done. Well I seem to be reading about teen-agers this week (just finished One of Us Is Lying). This one is slower, denser, and focuses (so far) on the parents/family of a rich teen in an elite boarding school.
Done. Good book, but I don't think the title has anything to do with the story; selected by some editor who thought it (and the cover) would attract a certain kind of reader.

This was one of the best books I've read all year!

This book was honestly quite good. However, I have to be unbiased and separate a great reading experience from a good plot. This book was interesting and refreshing, even though the story was not that unique or surprising. I think the main flaw of this book is the depth it explores it’s characters, which is not much: Grace is not anyone, while alone, as all her conflicts and characteristics are dependent on the man around her; her husband is a pretty shallow person, as I could not understand his mental conflicts or his “happy ending”; lastly, the main character, Charlotte… she is unstable and has the biggest pick me energy known to man.
Overall, even though the plot is developed in an interesting and entertaining way, its lack of uniqueness and superficial characters justifies this book’s acclaim and success.

morally gray protagonist but she does the right thing in the end. her actions are selfish but i liked her personality.
her father is portrayed as the most probable villain and while readers learn more and more of his flaws and dark side, i think he still loved his family and also followed his daughter in doing the right thing. it was sort of tragic in that if he had done this sooner, he would have saved a lot more people (his friend and wife). the reconciliation between father and daughter was sad.
i liked that the main character’s played an important role in her choices. the friendships were well-written. the friendship she had with her cousin was also so good, in a way i don’t see familial ties written anymore.

This book while being semi predictable, was still a solid suspense novel. I would put this somewhere between a YA and adult book.

In my opinion, this book had so much potential. But unfortunately it fell short. What I liked about it was how we had multiple povs from both the past and present. You got to see how things began and unfolded from the past.
However, I felt the whole thing was just missing that flare or that umpph. I wish we also see the killing happening from Margo’s pov cause I would have like to know why she waited all those years to kill Grace . I feel like the build up to the peak was slow, but you didn’t get that rush or excitement you normally feel when coming down the hill.
Overall, I think good storyline but could have been executed better to deliver that extra flare of excitement.

I bought this book when I was in the 6th grade and I tried to read it multiple times over the years but I was never a reader so I didn’t ever get very far. I finally got around to actually reading it and WOW!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I was a little skeptical because I’ve never heard anyone talk about it but wow. So many twists and turns it was sooo good, if you are into teenage murder mysteries like a good girls guide to murder, I definitely suggest this book.
I had a great time reading this book! I liked the boarding school setting, the secret society and the overall intrigue, even if I guessed a little bit of it. One thing I especially loved about this book is the way it's told, multiple POV and past/present, giving us little by little pieces of a mystery puzzle to put back together. I always love reading these kind of books :)
