I really love this world it's just the fact that the main characters were apart for the whole book.

3.5

Wow! This book did not suffer from second book syndrome at all which I rarely see. I actually thought it was better that Truthwitch. This book was really where I fell in love with these characters and their friendships, the plot is also amazing. I felt so completely engrossed in all the perspectives and I had no trouble following along like I did with the first book. My favourite character is Aeduan and all the little moments in which we followed him and Iseult absolutely gave me life.

If I had to say one negative thing it would be that I'm sad we didn't get to see the main characters come together at all in this book. I loved Safi and Iseult's relationship in the first book and I really missed it in this one. I also felt we really glossed over the scene where Merik got "killed" which was definitely a key part of the story and should have been left out in the way it was.

Overall, this book was amazing. Loved it more than the first book I have fallen in love with this series. 5 stars.

2017 review:

Windwitch took me on one hell of a ride. I spent the first 40% or so enjoying the story but fearing that it wouldn't live up to Truthwitch, which was one of my top 5 books of 2016. I shouldn't have worried so much.

The action picks up right where Truthwitch left off. While I initially found the POV shifts a bit annoying, I grew to really like them. Once the plot really picks up its pace, the tension created by the POV shifts kept me on the edge of my seat.

These characters are all so amazing. This is one of the rare books with a large ensemble of characters where I can't pick a clear favorite. I enjoyed getting to know some side characters from book 1 a bit better.

The last 100 pages of Windwitch were impossible for me to put down. I'm so happy that this lived up to all the hype it's gotten.

2.75 stars. Windwitch was a huge disappointment for me. I couldn't get into the story and most of this book was just filler really. Everything felt dragged out, boring POVs, confusing world building which again did feel underdeveloped (just like Truthwitch) and I'm also really sad that this book was supposed to focus on Merik and hopefully make him even more interesting, but he turned out to be the most bland character in the book. My favorite part was with Iseult and the Bloodwitch. I really like them as a team and found their story to be the most captivating. Everything else felt just "meh".
I might read book 3, but I'm not optimistic about that at all.
