Why does this have such a high rating? It's just 'oh! Look! The Joker is doing something deplorable! Oh look now he's doing something worse!' I don't know why Harley was even in this, she's like the comic book version of a movie extra. On second thought I know exactly why they put her in there. The only reason I finished this was because I flipped through it and saw Batman at the end and thought it would get interesting, and it didn't.

Not my favorite story - but the illustrations in this comic wowed the crap out of me. Dark, gritty, and impossible beautiful. To everyone's surprise the Joker has been released from Arkham Asylum and shit in Gotham is about to get dark. The Joker is none to pleased to learn that his turf has been taken over and his assets claimed so he wastes no time in setting his city back to the way it should rightfully be. He shakes down Killer Croc, the Penguin, the Riddler, and Two-Face and takes absolute delight in putting everyone back in their place. The Joker's insanity is his calling card and to him there is a method to his madness. Dark and gritty; but not my favorite.

I really really enjoyed this - engrossing to the point where I actually finished it in one day. Gory, grim, dark, and a true reflection o the superficial nature of the Joker.

The Joker is released from Arkham Asylum and moves to retake Gotham from all the underlords who were "holding" it for him. Lots of blood and craziness, as you'd expect from such a deranged character. Batman appears in the last couple of pages. Where's he been? No idea, but then again, the book's title is Joker.

Un viaje al espiral desenfrenado que es la mente del Joker desde el punto de vista de un personaje "menor".

Rating: 3.5

This was my 1st graphic novel experience, and i do not regret that this was what i read 1st. The art is appropriately dirty looking, almost like it is bloated with filth. The dull, muted color splashes and scheme is very much creepy and chill-inducing. it also made the characters and atmosphere come to life by reflecting their slummy settings and corrupted souls. the story is all around strange, told in an extremely unexpected, painfully random and yet completely intriguing point of view, and the villain interpretations are quite different but rather accurate. The joker himself is portrayed as an utterly insane psychopath in the very worst meaning of the word. His senseless bloodlust and need to cause chaos and pain is on every panel. He is very much like Heath ledger in his portrayal in THE DARK KNIGHT-- so much so that he actually looks like him in the novel. Which is fascinating considering his performance was so dynamic--i figured it would be difficult to correlate it onto paper. But as i have steadily read more and more graphic novels, i have found that i love some of them slightly better than this one...so i had to shave this one down from 4 stars to 3.5 because i had to stay true to myself and y'all. :D enjoy!

Not as fun without his yang

It was just an ok story. Nothing really jumps out. We get the perspective of a low rate thug who gets a taste of the big time crime life and is ultimately disillusioned. Batman’s absence through most of the story leaves me feeling a little wanting with this story. But that’s just me. I felt the same way with the recent movie.
