I love a murder mystery mixed in with a steamy historical romance. For the most part To Save a Sinner delivers, although the hero's 'I'm not worthy of her' angst got a little old. Nicely paced, well-written and with a few fun spins on the trope, it's an enjoyable read marred by the annoyance of steamy pre-marital sex where no one worries about birth control.

Started this book right before going to bed and I gotta say I haven't been so happy about losing a couple of hours of sleep (though I'm sure I'll hate myself in the morning) in a while. I just couldn't put it down or devour the words fast enough.

To Save a Sinner was fun, it was sexy, it was hot, it was sweet and sad, it was light and both the H and h were strong characters. I have to say the author did an amazing job and I think I fell in love a bit with Lucas. Helena was an amazing female lead. She is everything a strong female lead should be and I an happy to say the author didn't diatribe a simpering gorgeous flower damsel in distress. she was natural, smart, strong-willed and capable of doing what is right even when she may be putting herself in the lions mouth.

If you're looking for that then this book is for you... but if you are looking for a good read where both characters are great this is for you. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romance and strong mc's.

My one and only complaint... I felt the pace in the book is inconsistent. one moment it's fast, other times it's slow. (Then again I'm supposed to be sleeping so my brain may be impaired.)

Without insult, this is an average historical romance. A story about a gentlemen who's reputation is stained by a crime he didn't commit and young lady trying to clear his name. The premise sounds a lot more exciting than the final execution. While there could have potentially been a lot of conflict with a story like this, this one had surprisingly little conflict and the resolution was rather quick. It's a nice easy read for a Sunday.

I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Stevie Zimmerman, who is always a delight to listen to.

This one had a bad narrator so it was hard to get through. The story was okay but the narration was really problematic

The beginning was fun and fresh and interesting, and by the middle the story was still interesting but there were no more real twists or fresh takes, just pretty straightforward to the end. Somewhere in the middle things also got over-the-top steamy (for regency), and became increasingly cheesy toward the end.

I liked the two main characters, and was rooting for them the whole time, but I think I liked them best in the beginning; by the end they were starting to wear on my nerves.

I mostly enjoyed the story, but I could have used a few more twists and turns in the plot, and less premarital sex and cheesy declarations of love. I enjoy a steamy romance, but part of the fun of a regency or historical romance is you know the characters have societal rules and well established moral expectations that will keep them from actually hopping into bed together, which builds a certain romantic tension... so it's actually kind of a let down to have the characters give in so easily like this was a contemporary romance.

The bit about the curse in the museum seemed completely out of place, and although now I understand it was included in order to set up the next book, it only added to the cheesiness of the close of this book.

1820. Lucas Dempsey has returned to England after being banished to Boston for killing Lord Banbury. While at a ball Helena Ecclestone overhears a conversation she believes proves him innocent. She decides to help prove it.
An entertaining mystery and romance with its mature content and likeable characters.

very clever, funny dialogue. The insta lust was a bit of a turnoff but you forgive it for the positive things. a bit of a mystery for fun as well.
